AROUND 200 guests attended the annual Eoghan Rua, Coleraine presentation of awards evening last Saturday evening in the Magherabuoy House Hotel, Portrush where Derry County chairman, Seamus McCloy, was the guest of honour.
Pride of place went to the senior camogie panel who had just won the Ulster premier shield final earlier that day in Derrylaughan, Tyrone by beating Armagh side Ballymacnab.
The panel was presented with their medals by the county chairman as he c
ongratulated them on their fine victory. A number of individual club awards were also made. The senior footballer of the year award went to county player Barry McGoldrick while the senior hurling award was made jointly to Niall Holley and Sean Leo McGoldrick.
The reserve footballer award went to a young player on the move Colm McGoldrick, he also picked up the young hurler of the year award. In camogie Meabh McGoldrick was the senior winner while Pamela Frizelle was awarded most improved player.
The other young players of the year were in football James Shannon while Maria Mooney took the camogie award. The club person of the year went to Joe Passmore, he was presented with the Charlie Hampson Memorial trophy.
