THE Mayor of Coleraine will be panicking on Irish Cup Final Day!
For the borough's first Citizen is being sent to jail on Saturday, May 3 - and only the kindness of the people of Coleraine can get him out in time for the big kick-off.
Having agreed to "go to jail" in support of David Boyle, the Caring Caretaker's charity fund-raising campaigns, the date of the the JJB Irish Cup final - when Coleraine will take on Linfield at Windsor Park, Belfast - falls on the same day as the Mayor's Parade.

However, councillor Bradley is hoping help will not be far away and bail will be posted in time to get him out for the Mayor's Parade - and also the big match!

An avid football supporter, involved in the Coleraine and District League, the Mayor is determined to get to Belfast before the 2.45pm kick off.

However, the main reason for "Jail and Bail" is to raise funds for the four charities being supported on the day.
Cancer is a disease that affects an estimated one in three of us and heart disease is another major killer in Northern Ireland.

The Mayor told the Times: "Council had a presentation from the Alzheimer's Society recently, and that was quite moving and revealing.

"Therefore, I am delighted to be doing my bit to try and raise funds for the Ulster Cancer Foundation; Chest Heart and Stroke, Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Alzheimer's Society, four very worthy charities that will each receive much needed finance.
"So, hopefully, I can raise enough to get me out of jail in time for kick-off. Keep your fingers crossed!"
