Spring event for WI groups

THE Spring meeting of Riada Area Women's Institutes was held at Ballywillan Prebyterian Church, Portrush.
Portrush WI members took the chair with Mrs Margaret McCullagh, Chairman and Mrs Eileen Caldwell as secretary.

Area competitions in baking, homecraft and floral arrangements were judged with Ballymoney winning first place and Armoy taking second.
Mrs Margaret McMillan, area executive member, and international sub-committee chairman, thanked everyone for their support and told how £22, 679 had been sent to ACWW London to benefit the 'Pennies for Friendship' and projects in Tanzania, Mali, Uganda, South Africa, India and Sri Lanka.

The Institutes have also supported the ' Water for All' campaign, 'Women feed the World' project and nutritional education projects.

The guest speaker was Anne Marie McAleese and the meeting was entertained by Ballintoy WI with tea being served by Portrush members.
