First meeting of year for Coleraine WI

THE Vice-President of Coleraine Women’s Institute, Elsie Calvin, welcomed members to the first meeting of 2013.

A very special welcome was extended to President Kathleen Presha who had been ill.

Nan McQuilken, Kathleen Doherty and Betty Jennings won the quiz heat and will now represent Coleraine at the Area Quiz.

The entertainment was members’ holiday memories. Helen Terrett regaled members with details of her American trips.

Dorothy McCracken told of her favourite holidays visits to Glenveagh Castle and the Downings in Donegal while Caroline Kimber recalled her visit to New Orleans for the Mardi Gras.

The Birthday Girl was Jacquie Clarke.

The competition winners for a holiday snap were Elsie Calvin, Caroline Kimber and Jacquie Clarke.

The evening ended with the singing of The Country Woman’s song.
