TWO play parks in Portrush are to refurbished in time for the summer season.

Coleraine Borough Council has confirmed that play parks at the Dunluce Centre and at the Recreation Grounds are to be re-vamped

We were contacted by a Portrush mum last week, who was concerned that both play parks were being dismantled.

She told The Times that she was worried about the lack of outdoor facilities in the resort for children.

However, in a statement, Coleraine Borough Council reassured local parents saying that both parks will re-open again at the end of April.

“ Coleraine Borough Council confirms that following a recent survey of outdoor leisure facilities in Portrush, it was decided that the play parks at Dunluce and the Recreation grounds would be refurbished.

“Council is taking prompt action on this matter to ensure that the facilities provided for children in the Portrush area are fit for use during the summer months.

“As a result the equipment has been removed to start work immediately on improvements.

“New park equipment will be installed in both the Dunluce play park and in the Recreation grounds in Portrush during April 2013.

“Coleraine Borough Council apologises that both amenities are closed at present, but expects to reopen both facilities at the end of April 2013.”
