The Wishing Trees - what will you write?

editorial image

COLERAINE’S River Bann will be the backdrop for a unique project exploring the concept of bridges.

‘Coleraine Wishing Trees’ is a collaboration between Big Telly Theatre Company, CRUN and the PSNI.

The unique project is asking locals to write a wish, thought, memory or dream on a red ribbon. The ribbon will then be attached to a tree. There will be two trees for the ribbons, one on each side of the River Bann.

Groups and individuals are being invited to partcipate in this unique event, centred around the Old Bridge in Coleraine.

Messages can be written spontaneously at a range of locations throughout the town or at sessions facilitated by Big Telly.

Facilitated sessions will take place in schools and community venues.

These sessions will explore the concept of bridges, their symbolism as instruments of connection and their deep emotional resonance as the site of lost lives within the community.

The wishes will be gathered and displayed on trees on both sides of the River Bann in a celebration event on 17th February 2013 at 4pm in Christie Park.

For further information or to book a session facilitated by Big Telly please contact Linda on 028 7083 6473 or by email linda@big-telly.com.

There is a facebook page for this project and you can find it at Coleraine Wishing Trees. You can write your wishes on the facebook page or tweet them to @BigTellyNI #colerainewishes.
