Whiskey festival for Bushmills

BUSHMILLS is set to host a Salmon and Whiskey Festival this September in a bid to encourage tourism and investment in the village.

Community representatives attended workshops on 21st and 22nd May to focus on the program of events and have now confirmed that the festival will take place on Saturday 22nd September 2012 from 10.30am in the centre of the village.

The festival will include activities for all ages, live art performances, tours of MacNaughton House and Bushmills distillery.

Commenting on the festival the TUV’s Cllr Sharon McKillop explained: “The festival has been organised under the auspices of the Bushmills Traders Association and a workshop was organised this week to afford local people the opportunity to contribute to the planning of the event.

“The festival will be an excellent opportunity to celebrate local culture, heritage and produce in a bid to attract tourism and inward investment.

“Bushmills is ‘the Gateway to the Giant’s Causeway’ and the Community Group want to promote all that Bushmills has to offer.

The festival will showcase our local produce, services and village life. It will include live music throughout the day and guided tours of MacNaughton House and Bushmills Distillery for individuals wishing to sample the world famous produce of Bushmills.

On behalf of the Bushmills Traders Association I would urge the local community and district to give this event their full support”.
