THE latest short-film from twin Portrush filmmakers Steven and Wayne Benson has been nominated at a prestigious film festival in the USA.
The film, titled "Photograph", is in the running for Best International Short Film after being officially selected to be screened at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival (New York and Los Angeles).

"Photograph" will be screened in New York next month and will be screened in Los Angeles later in the year.
This is the first time the Bensons have submitted their work to a festival outside the UK.

The brothers, who are former pupils of Irish Society Primary School and Dunluce School in Bushmills, went on to study at Ballymoney campus and in Middlesborough before setting up a base in Portrush.

"Photograph" was selected after receiving an excellent response from the selection panel in New York. As well as the New York Film Festival, the Bensons have so far submitted their film for consideration to the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival.
"Photograph" is a short film written, produced and directed by Steven and Wayne Benson and stars Belfast actors Patrick Jenkins (from the Endemol/CITV series Bel's Boys and BBCNI series Give My Head Peace), and Alexandra Ford (from Give My Head Peace), and local actors Andrew Porter, Michael Foyle and Alan McClarty.

The film was funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland through Northern Ireland Screen.
"Photograph" is a thriller that deals with the modern fear of privacy invasion and CCTV surveillance.
Steven and Wayne both write, produce and direct their projects. So how does the thought and development process work with two creative minds chipping in ideas?

Wayne told The Times this week: "Both of us pretty much do everything in the process of making the film and luckily we have never come up with anything where we totally disagreed.
"It might be because we're brothers but we just seem to see things the same way and if we have ever come up with a problem we always seem to be able to work it out."

Steven and Wayne Benson's last film 0.0270270, which starred local actors Rodney Tosh and James Nesbitt, was screened at the Riverside Theatre in Coleraine two years ago.
The 25-year-old twins have been writing, producing and directing projects since the age of 16.

Their previous short films have been short-listed for the Cinemagic Young Filmmaker of the Year, the Out of Sight Festival, awarded Royal Television Society certificates, selected for the Edinburgh
International Film Festival videotheque and their short film "Chocolate Kiss" was nationally broadcast on the Sky Digital channel Propeller.
The Bensons are currently developing several projects including a feature-length project called The Cyclist.
