BOWLS Delighted Montra are promoted to Division One

MONTRA took the North West Division Two title and also gained promotion into Division One after their good 14-shot away win over arch rivals Killowen in the Maconachie Hall.
They took six points to the home side's one point. In the first half Montra got off to a dream start when Paul Donnelly beat Joe Davis by 16 shots and Liam McNicholl beat Sammy Irwin by four shots giving them an interval lead of 20 shots.

In the s
econd half Billy Boyce got a point for Killowen with his good eight shot win over Peter Whittaker but Russell Millar rounded up vitory for the Rope Walk club with a hard earned two shots win over Sammy Connor Jnr.

First Coleraine's last game of the season was way to arch rivals New Row. Their hopes of the League title and promotion to the First Division ended there when they lost by nine shots and five points to two points.

First Coleraine got off to the perfect start when they won both games in the first half to take an interval lead of ten shots. Bryan Shaw beat Robin Humphries by eight shots and Robert Campbell held on to beat Gary Lyttle by two shots.

In the second half, fortunes changed and it was New Row who came up trumps, winning both games. Jonathan Elder had a very good 13 shots win over Jim Campbell and Tommy Moffatt beat Colin Hutchinson by six shots.

Castlerock moved up into third place with their very good 17-shot win at the seaside over Drumreagh. They took six points to the visitors' one point. In the first half Brian Wilson had a good seven shots win over Brian Taggart and the game between Ronnie Steele and Carson Boyd ended in a draw.

In the second half there was another drawn game and that was between Jackie Hutchinson and Edwin Jackson. Hugh Caskey sealed the Rock's victory with his very good ten shots win over Martin Marks.

Meanwhile, in the Morrison Cup semi-final Loughanreagh will play Ballinrees at Loughanreagh this Thursday (March 12th). The winners will play Moneydig at Drumreagh on Thursday, March 26th at 7.15pm.
