COLERAINE are through to the semi-finals of the McConnell Shield following a 2-1 victory over Randalstown Seconds at the University of Ulster, Coleraine, last Saturday.
Coleraine started on top with plenty of attacking down the right flank from Claire Allison and were unlucky not to go ahead in the first ten minutes after creating a number of goalscoring opportunities.

At the other end of the Randalstown had their chances but the Coleraine defence, lead by Alice McGill ,were letting nothing passed them.

The home side took the lead in the second half when Shauneen McDaid's free hit from the top of the circle found Alison Nicholl who fired home.
Both teams battled away for the next 20 minutes and against the run of play Randalstown won a disputed penalty to equalise with just ten minutes left on the clock.

This spurred Coleraine and they got the winner with just minutes to go. Young Elaine Simpson, playing her first game for the senior side, superbly deflected Shauneed McDaid's pass into the back of the net.

The Bannsiders will play either Parkview or Kilkeel in the semi-finals.
COLERAINE: M Budina, A McGill, L Kemps, J Olliver, L McGowan, S Nutt, A McCloskey, G Simpson, S McDaid, C Allison, R Minihan, L Watton, E Simpson.
