Red Arrows return for Air Show!
COLERAINE Borough Council confirmed last week that the popular NI International Airshow will return to Portrush on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1.
The highlight of the event will be the welcome return of the Red Arrows.
Welcoming the event, Mayor of Coleraine, Councillor Sam Cole said: “The Airshow in Portrush is unquestionably the main attraction in the North Coast events calendar. In addition to welcoming the much sought after Red Arrows team back to the Borough.
“I am delighted that Council’s Events Team will once again manage this popular summer event which is a key economic driver for the Borough.
“These types of events rely heavily on support from the private sector and I am very grateful to the event sponsor, RSA. We also welcome the support from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.”
The organisers have also announced that major international insurer, RSA, will again be the title sponsor. It is the second year that RSA has partnered with Council to deliver the free, two day event, which uses West Bay, one of the prettiest Airshow locations in the UK.
Jack McIlduff, Managing Director of RSA NI, said, “RSA Northern Ireland is very pleased to continue its support of the Airshow and we are particularly delighted that our sponsorship has enabled the return of the Red Arrows to the North Coast for another breathtaking display.
“We are confident that this well established family event will again provide a wonderful weekend of entertainment, and it will also support the local economy by attracting thousands of visitors over the two days”.
Eddie Rowan, Events Manager at the Northern Ireland Tourist Board added: “The Northern Ireland Tourist Board is also delighted to once again support the NI Airshow for 2013 under the National Tourism Events Fund.
“I am delighted that the Red Arrows are back again this year at Portrush to showcase the spectacular North Coast and thrill the tens of thousands of spectators expected at this fantastic event.
“Continuing the legacy of the successful NI2012 year, events like this help put Northern Ireland on the destination wish list of visitors not just from at home but from all over the world, as well as enhance Northern Ireland’s reputation as an appealing destination.”
