FITNESS First in Coleraine are getting warmed up and ready for the exciting Coleraine Midnight Walk on Friday, October 26.

The four mile evening fundraiser in aid of Northern Ireland Hospice is now in its second year and is expected to attract hundreds of people to the Diamond in aid of raising funds to provide local Hospice Care to patients living in the North Coast and Causeway area.

Studio and Events Manager for Fitness First, Shirley Napier is confident the walk will get off on the right foot.

“We can’t wait to support this years Coleraine Midnight Walk in aid of Northern Ireland Hospice which is now in its second year.

“We are proud to be associated with this local event which encourages the local community to get out and active whilst at the same time, helping to support a worth while cause.

“My team at Fitness First will be getting everyone warmed up and ready prior to setting off on Friday night, October 26 from 10pm with a variety of light exercise routines.

“We encourage all our members and anyone in the local community to support this event which is an easy four mile stroll. You don’t have to be uber fit to get involved, just enjoy beginning part of an exciting charity event.”

The evening will commence at 10pm from the Diamond in Coleraine and all participants are encouraged to wear the hospice colour, purple, or a spooky costume in time for Halloween. Spot prizes will be awarded for the best dressed and most eye catching along with various other activities.

The event also offers the opportunity to walk in memory of a loved one. Northern Ireland Hospice will send all participants a memory card which can be personalized and decorated as you wish.

Walkers are then asked to bring their decorated cards on the night where they will be displayed with a candle, along with hundreds of others to form a sea of flickering lights as walkers return back to the Diamond shortly after Midnight.

Every pound donated or raised will make a difference says Lynn Boyce, NI Hospice Fundraiser.

“This year’s event is sure to be an unforgettable evening of fun,” she says. “Every pound raised by a Midnight Walker will make a significant difference to the lives of local patients living with a terminal illness. Registration for the event costs just £10 and with one in three people in Northern Ireland being touched by Hospice care, we are inviting everyone from the local community to join in and take part.”

All walkers are encouraged to raise a further £90 in sponsorship money which will provide three hours of nursing care to a patient being care for by Hospice. This will also bring the charity one step closer to their fundraising target of £10,000 for the event.
