WHAT'S IN YOUR HANDBAG....? Elaine Donnelly
THIS week we take a peek inside the handbag of ELAINE DONNELLY Elaine is Manager of Coleraine Sure Start Partnership.
Sure Start supports families with children up to the age of four, who live in Ballysally, Killowen, the Heights, Windyhall, Millburn, Harpur's Hill and the Central ward.
Sure Start works in partnership with a number of community-based organisations to deliver and fund support services to families, so it's a rewarding role for Elaine working with different communities and groups – and providing support to families with young children.
On Thursday, March 26, the group will be hosting a Pregnancy and Baby Fair the event will take place at the Lodge Hotel from from 6.00pm to 9.00pm.
Elaine says: "This is a Billy Bag, which is very special to me as it was bought by friends and the colours are different on each side, so it goes with lots of things."
Here's what Elaine keeps inside:
1. Two mobile phones
I got a new one for Christmas but haven't transferred all the numbers over from the old one.
2. Coleraine Sure Start business cards
We got new ones designed recently and I just love the picture of the three babies on them. It's important that families and health professionals know how to contact Sure Start should they need us – so our cards are useful when we are out and about. We offer a wide range of services such as ante-natal classes, parent and baby/toddler groups, training, Early Years support, breast-feeding support and drop-in groups. 3. Picture drawn by my daughter
She's five and loves drawing and making cards for everyone.
4. A cloth bag
I try to do my bit by using re-useable bags, but often I forget and have a pile of them in the car!
5. Sure Start pens
I am well known for being a pen thief, so I try to always have some handy that don't 'belong' to anyone else.
I used to work with someone who taped her name onto all her pens so that I when I stole them she would know they were hers!
6. Keys
There are two sets lying at the bottom of the bag, one for home and one for work, but I always seem to pick out the wrong bunch!
7. Bonjela teething gel
Not for me! With two young children myself, I understand some of the issues facing the families we work with.
8. Rubbish
You don't really want to know...!
