60th Summer Theatre continues

It’s been entertaining and making audiences laugh on the north coast each summer.

And now Portrush Summer Theatre is celebrating a special milestone this year - its 60th anniversary.

To celebrate the anniversary Portrush Summer Theatre is presenting seven shows, which began last week with “Stop It Nurse” by Sam Cree and concluding with another Cree classic, Don’t Tell The Wife on August 24-27.

All of the plays are staged at Portrush Town Hall each week from a Wednesday to a Saturday.

Performing this week (20th to 23rd July) is Ballymoney Literary and Debating Society with “Always a Bridesmaid by Jones, Hope and Wooten.

The full programme for this summer continues as follows:

20-23 July: ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID by Jones, Hope and Wooten - Ballymoney Literary and Debating Society.

27-30 July: ANYONE COULD ROB A BANK by Tom Coffey - The Country Players.

3-6 August: BESIDE THE SEASIDE by Leslie Sands - The Clarence Players (Belfast).

10-13 August: A BIT MORE CRAIC - Highfield Players.

17-20 August: RUNNING RIOT by Derek Benfield - Bart Players (Belfast)

24-27 August: DON’T TELL THE WIFE by Sam Cree - Lambeg Players (Belfast).

All the performances begin at 8pm, tickets for adults cost £8 (concession £7) and children £5.

The box office is open daily from 11am to 12 noon and 6pm to 8pm. Tickets book extremely fast so please book early to avoid disappointment, call 028 7082 9539.

Still more places left for Summer Drama Day

Meanwhile There are still places left for young people aged 12-8 at the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Summer Drama Day in Ballycastle. This is a perfect opportunity to spend a day of the summer holidays being creative and devising a piece of theatre to put on show to family and friends in the evening. The full day drama workshop experience will take place on Monday 25th July in Sheskburn House and will be led by experienced drama tutors Caroline Kelly-Dodds and Molly Goyer-Gorman. Workshops are free and open to all. The day runs from 10am-4:30pm with an evening performance. No previous experience is needed, however places are limited so booking is recommended.
