The President of Coleraine Women’s Institute, Mrs Joyce Jackson, welcomed members and guests to the Platinum Jubilee Dinner at the Lodge Hotel.

Guests included Mrs Elizabeth Warden Federation Chairman, Agnes Kennedy M.B.E Lower Bann Executive Member, Susan Lyons Lower Bann Area Chairman, Councillor Michelle Knight-McQuillan Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, as well as Presidents of Lower Bann Institutes and Past Presidents of Coleraine WI.

The evening was conducted by Derek Ewing M.B.E, Master of Ceremonies, who ensured the evening ran smoothly and contributed to the success of the 70th anniversary celebrations.

Members of Coleraine Women’s Institute, which was formed in 1945 enjoyed a wonderful dinner and entertainment to mark the important milestone.

The Insitute wishes to thank all those who helped to organise the celebration and the staff of the Lodge Hotel who made the event a fantastic success.

Past President Nan McQuilken wrote “Reminiscences” which was read by Willa Robinson Past President.

Anne Barber Past President read cards which were received from Kilrea, Macosquin, Exorna, Garvagh, Portstewart, Ballyrashane, Portglenone Institutes and from Susan Lyons on behalf of Lower Bann Area, Agnes Kennedy Lower Bann Executive Member, Elizabeth Warden Federation Chairman and finally from our Past President Betty Jennings.

Members and guests enjoyed a beautiful four course meal finished off with a slice of the anniversary cake which had been specially made for the occasioin by Elsie Calvin Past President.

The evening’s entertainment was provided by “Girona Orchestra” traditional group and members enjoyed singing along.

The evening’s celebrations ended with the singing of A Country Woman’s Song.
