THE annual Black Demonstration will be held in Castlerock this Saturday.
This year's parade will be held under the auspices of Coleraine Royal Black District Chapter No1, who kindly permitted Articlave "Sons of Ulster" RBP 439 to hold the demonstration in the seaside village as part of their year long centenary celebratio
ns.
Articlave RBP 439 received their present warrant in October 1909 and will be holding a special meeting at Imperial Grand Black Chapter headquarters in Brownlow House, Lurgan on October 31 to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Sir Knights from Co Donegal, Co Londonderry, Scotland and England will make up the 35 preceptories on parade accompanied by various bands.
Sir Knights are asked to assemble at the following locations: Raphoe District No3 and South Londonderry District No4 adjacent to the Peter Thompson Hall (Freehall Road); Coleraine District No1 on Freehall Road and City of Londonderry District No2 at Norwell Park.
All Districts are asked to be in position at their assembly points by 11.30am, ready to parade at 12 noon sharp. Marshals will be on hand to show visiting Sir Knights and bands to their respective assembly locations.
The parade will take the following order: the Grove Pipe Band, County Bannerette, followed by the Imperial and County Officers, Raphoe No3, South Londonderry No4, City of Londonderry No2 and Coleraine No1.
The parade will leave from Castlewalk, past Castlerock Orange Hall, Sea Road (across railway crossing), Main Street, Promenade, Circular Road, Sea Road to Demonstration Field at Playing Fields.
Platform proceedings will commence at 2-00pm where the main speaker will be the Past Sovereign Grand Master, Sir Knight William Logan.
Bands and preceptories are asked to reform in Playing Fields at 3-00pm ready to leave at 3-30pm sharp. The return parade will assume the following order: Grove Pipe Band, Imperial and County Officers, Articlave Flute Band, Articlave "Sons of Ulster" RBP 439, Coleraine District No1, City of Londonderry No2, South Londonderry No4 and Raphoe District No3.
The return route will be the same as the first parade and County Officers, Grove Pipe Band, Articlave Flute Band and preceptory will open ranks adjacent to Sea Road and Castlerock junction to allow remainder of the parade to pass through on their way to their respective buses, parked on Sea Road.
Disabled Parking will be available on a reserved part of the promenade and at the lay by adjacent to demonstration field.
Buses will only be permitted to enter village via Sea Road and passengers will disembark at Castle Walk junction after which buses will turn at the Promenade and park on Sea Road ready for evening pick up.
Car parking will be available in a spacious car park on Freehall Road and all drivers are requested to avail of the car parks to minimise congestion in the village.
