PORTRUSH RNLI station has been issued with a new lifeboat, to replace the "Katie Hannan".
The crew at Portrush were given the news on Monday evening.

The permanent replacement will be the "William Gordon Burr", a Severn Class lifeboat of similar design to the "Katie Hannan", which was lost after an incident at Rathlin Island in January.

The Portrush crew have already had their familiarisation with the boat as it has been on temporary loan to the station on a number of previous occassions, whilst the "Katie Hannan" was serviced.

The lifeboat already has a proud history, having been involved in 62 rescue operations and directly responsible for saving five lives.

The vessel was donated to the RNLI a number of years ago, in memory of William Gordon Burr, by his mother.
