SUSAN Boyle has spoken fondly of family trips to the seaside in Portrush, The Coleraine Times can reveal.
The Britain's Got Talent sensation, who has topped the US album charts for three weeks, was speaking about the stresses and strains of fame.
The Scottish singing star revealed some special moments from her childhood, including trips across to Northern Ireland - and Portrush in particular.

It was widely reported around the time of the Britain's Got Talent show's tour that Boyle was suffering from the stresses of sudden fame, checking into The Priory private clinic beforehand after having a breakdown and pulling out of some of the shows.

However, she went on to complete several of the planned performances to standing ovations and rapturous receptions, and is now one of the biggest-selling artists of the year with debut album I Dreamed A Dream.
She explained: "Everyone knows what happened in the final of Britain's Got Talent itself, and the actual tour of Britain's Got Talent was a wee bit tiring for me, because I wasn't very well.

"But once you get into it, it was okay," she reasoned, before launching into some trademark giggles. "It was enjoyable actually, it was really good, can I get some more?"

When quizzed on her favourite memories as a young girl she reminisced: "Special moments of my childhood include when I used to go to Ireland with my mum and dad on holiday.
"I went to Ireland first of all when I was six, and I visited a woman called Mrs Docherty, in Dungiven House in a place called Portrush.
"I always remember that place, because I always used to go down to the seaside, everybody used to be looking for me but I was up to my backside in sand."

Last week it was revealed that her Britain's Got Talent audition was the most seen YouTube clip this year. Her rendition of I Dreamed A Dream was watched more than 120 million times worldwide.
Fans of Boyle, 48, a former church worker from Blackburn, West Lothian, include actress Demi Moore and her idol, singer Elaine Page.
