YOUNG Coleraine chefs were hard at work during in the Rotary Club’s annual Young Chef Competition.
The event was again held at Loreto College in Coleraine and eight young people from Loreto and St Joseph’s High School set about creating a three course meal to delight and impress the judges. They had half an hour to prepare, two hours to cook and could only spend £15 on ingredients.
The judges were Fionn McAlpin from The Ramore Wine Bar, Colette McCotter, international restaurateur, local solicitor Rosanna Jack and Rotarian Sue McLaughlin. They had a very difficult job deciding between the eight superb meals but in the end a winner was chosen.
The winner was Aine McNamee from Loreto College and she will go on to the Rotary regional finals next month. Aine also wins a day working with Fionn in the famous Ramore Wine Bar, preparing her own winning recipe and helping produce luscious desserts.
Each of the contestants were presented with a prize and a certificate and thanks go to sponsors of the event, Moore’s of Coleraine and the Ramore Wine Bar, Portrush. Thanks also go to the staff from Loreto and St Joseph’s and Rotarian Reid Jack who organised the successful event.
