Air de service on the way

PORTRUSH will have an air de service for campervans in time for next year’s summer season.

uring last Tuesday night’s Policy and Development committee meeting at Coleraine Borough Council, councillors were told that funding had been made available through the Northern Ireland Tourist Board for the facility at Sandhill Drive.

Twenty-one motorhomes will be accommodated on an overnight basis with appropriate amenities available to campervan owners.

The project will cost £70,000, however half of the expense will come from the Tourist Board.

Councillors welcomed the new facility.

DUP councillor Mark Fielding described it as an “investment in tourism for the area.”

Party colleague Adrian McQuillan said that the project was a “step forward”, and added that it would solve problems with campervans parking where they shouldn’t.
