A TALENTED pair from the Maiden City will take centre stage at the Atlantic Bar this Friday night.
Ryan Vail are Post Acid House troubadours for a new generation; they combine Ryan’s experimentation with Katie’s classical training to achieve a sound that is totally their own.
Ryan started making music at the early age of 16.
After playing in various bands, his attention shifted towards turntablism and Ryan became a DJ for 8 years, using vinyl to create music and master the art of sound manipulation.
He also spent five years working out how to use an analogue drum machine he bought in a pawnshop which had no manual and got grounded for buying.
After that he then returned to producing.
He played some of his early compositions to Katie, his partner in the band and as a music teacher, she provided some constructive criticism. She brings the structure, he brings the experimentation and together they create a distinct sound out of organised chaos greater than the sum of its parts.
Ryan Vail signed to Belfast label Champion Sound Music in March 2012 and have spent the last year growing in reputation at home and internationally. Their work has been picked up on and received widespread Radio play on RTE, BBC Radio One and Six Music.
