Barnardo’s calls for more foster carers

BARNARDO’S NI is urgently appealing for more foster carers in the Coleraine area to come forward.

At present over 100 foster carers are needed across Northern Ireland including the Coleraine area.

Lynda Wilson, Director Barnardo’s NI said, “Children can be in need of fostering for many reasons and it is Barnardo’s job to place the right child with the right parents. Our aim is to place children in long term foster care to give them the stability and support they so desperately need.

“We are also urgently in need of carers who can foster siblings. It’s hugely important to try and keep brothers and sisters together because it’s one less loss when a child is coming into care.

“It can be really comforting for a child to have a brother or sister with them, someone who has been through the same experiences as them and someone they can relate to.”
