Big Lottery Fund

Community groups in the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area have been awarded grants thanks to the Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All scheme.

Phoenix ADHD Project Limited, based in Coleraine provides tailored support programmes for children and young people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and their families.

They are using their £7,710 to provide an outdoor summer camp in July and August.

Dungiven Regeneration Group supports the community in Dungiven and were awarded £3,000 to showcase the skills and talents of local people by holding arts and craft workshops and by creating an exhibition in a disused building in the town.

Glenariff Improvement Group runs activities for older and isolated people and lobbies for improvements in the Glens of Antrim area.

They are using their £10,000 for a year-long weekly programme of environmental volunteering.

Greysteel COmmunity Association provides support and activities for the community of Greysteel, near Derry/Londonderry.

They are using the £6,440 for a six

month programme to get young people more involved in community activity including a youth club, team building and awareness programmes, litter picking and neighbourhood improvement sessions.

Loughgiel Mums n Tots is a parent and toddler group which focuses on enhancing the quality of life for mothers and young children in the rural area of

Loughgiel. They are using £2,044 to provide storage and safety equipment, soft flooring and room dividers.

The Old School Youth Academy supports children and young people in Ballymoney.

They are using their £9,955 to provide fitness equipment and social programmes

for teenagers. They are also providing training in drug and alcohol awareness, sexual health, first aid and money management, and a work placement scheme.

St Mary’s Primary School on Rathlin Island are using £9,000 to provide equipment to design and create a community garden and grow vegetables.

It will include sensory elements for those with special needs, somewhere for older people to sit and enjoy, raised beds and a polytunnel.

St Mary’s Primary School, Gortnahey, is a school near Dungiven who are using the £10,000 for a new mobile room to provide after school and evening activities for parents and the wider community to develop their skills.
