Canetmus Christmas concerts

Cantemus is an up and coming Chamber choir based in the Causeway coast area.

The choir’s Christmas concert has been so popular in recent years that this year they are presenting two concerts; Star of the Sea Church, Portstewart on Friday 9 December at 7.30pm and St Malachy’s Church, Coleraine on Friday 16 December at 7.30pm

This year the choir is delighted to welcome back Helen Mark, Presenter of ‘Open Country’ on Radio 4, as their guest compere. Also returning to Star of the Sea is the fabulous Welsh harpist, Rhian Hanson who so impressed the audience last year with her musical mastery of the concert harp.

At St Malachy’s, Fiona Gryson, a young harpist from Tara will be appearing for the first time with the choir. Rhian Hanson has played with many of the UK’s

leading orchestras including the Ulster Orchestra, having performed at the Last Night of the Proms on the Titanic Slipway. She has also worked with Il Divo and Katherine Jenkins whilst her TV credits include the Jonathan Ross Christmas Show.

Also appearing for the first time with the choir is local organist Andrew Harrison accompanying the choir and playing a solo piece based on the well-known tune ‘Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer’.

The choir will present an exciting programme of Christmas music, including ‘O Holy Night’ and a fun arrangement of ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’.
