John Wilkinson, a registered member of the British Mountaineering Council, explained the many physical and social benefits of the climbing wall.

He also highlighted the many opportunities such a fantastic facility could provide for the College as well as the local community.

Six full time members of staff, who are fully trained in the use of the climbing wall, demonstrated various aspects of the wall including traversing, belaying, pyramid fitness sessions, floor walk belay and peer belaying. Visitors to the wall were invited to experience climbing for themselves. All who took part said it was a very enjoyable experience.

Tea and refreshments were provided by the canteen at NCIC for all who were involved in the launch.
