Coleraine Inst delighted with ‘outstanding’ GCSE results

COLERAINE Academical Institution were lasting week celebrating the ‘outstanding’ results attained by their CGSE students.

Headmaster, Dr D Carruthers, paid tribute to the boys’ hard work and commitment.

“We are once again delighted by the outstanding results achieved in the GCSE examinations this year,” said Dr Carruthers. “The boys in Year 12 have worked hard and their commitment and effort has been rewarded.

“Stuart Allen, Peter Bonnar, David Boyd, Bruce Campbell, James Campbell, Anthony Clyde, Michael Evans, Callum Faith-Crothers, Killian Faith-Kelly, James Irwin, Daniel McAllister, Oliver McDowell, Tom McKeown, Paul Moore, Owen Neely, James Richardson, Matthew Smyth, Ben Taggart, Josh Taggart, Daniel Turner, Brian Tweedy and Andrew Wisener all achieved at least seven grades at A* or A.

“James Irwin achieved 9 A*s and 2 As, David Boyd 6 A*s and 5 As, Michael Evans 7 A*s and 3As, Callum Faith-Crothers 2 A*s, 9 As and 1B, Killian Faith-Kelly 7 A*s, 3 As and 1B, Daniel McAllister 6 A*s, 4 As and 2 Bs, Paul Moore 8 A*s, 2 As and 1 B, Owen Neely 3 A*s, 6 As and 2 Bs, Oliver McDowell 4 A*s, 4 As and 3 Bs, Peter Bonnar 3 A*s and 6 As and Matthew Smyth 8 As and 2 Bs.

“The results at GCSE have maintained the school’s high standards with some subject areas achieving 100% A* - C grades. Boys had the opportunity to study a wide variety of GCSE subjects with the A* grade being achieved in seventeen different subject areas, ranging from Additional Mathematics to Music, Religious Education to Physical Education.

“I would personally like to congratulate the pupils on the success they have achieved this year. Also, I’m sure that the pupils of CAI would like me to take this opportunity to thank the staff at the school for the hard work and dedication they have shown over the last two years. We wish all our Year 12 pupils continued success in the future.”
