More suspects added to cash in transit robbery

Further suspects are being added to a prosecution file regarding a cash-in-transit armed robbery in Coleraine last summer in which £10,000 was stolen when a gun was placed against the back of a security guard's leg, Coleraine Magistrates Court heard last Monday.

The information was given by a prosecutor who added that a forensic report is still outstanding.

She was speaking as 26-year-old Jason Kennedy, of Drumtarsey Road in Coleraine’s Heights area, made his latest court appearance in connection with the case.

His case has been adjourned to May 23.

The robbery happened at B&M in Coleraine’s Riverside Retail Park on July 18 last year.

Kennedy is charged with robbing a security firm of £10,000 and faces a second charge of possessing either a firearm or imitation firearm with intent to commit robbery or to resist arrest or to prevent the arrest of another.

* A man with a Kilrea address has been charged with harassment.

Gerald Patrick McGinnis (33), of Ardbann Walk, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court last Monday.

He is charged with harassment of a person on April 9 this year.

A police officer believed she could connect him to the charge.

A prosecutor said other charges may be added to the file and the case was adjourned to May 16.

The accused was released on his own bail of £300.
