Specsavers in Coleraine has announced it is to sponsor Ballywillan Drama Group’s production of the award-winning musical Legally Blonde.
Ballywillan is one of only two musical societies in Northern Ireland who has been given the opportunity to stage this smash hit show.
Casting has already taken place with Louise McClarty selected to play the lead role of Elle Woods and Alan McClarty as her ‘Love Interest’ Emmett Forrest.
Specsavers store director Judith Ball said: “Ballywillan Drama Group is known throughout Coleraine and its surrounding areas for its fantastic sell out productions. “Hairspray” was amazing last year and we really wanted to support the company as it raises its game even higher this year with Legally Blonde. “ This is the first time we have sponsored a theatrical production and we’re looking forward to partnering Brian Logan and the cast as they prepare for this exciting sixteen night run in the Riverside Theatre in January and February next year”.
Richard Mairs, the sponsorship co-ordinator for the group said: “ We at Ballywillan are absolutely delighted to have such a powerful high street brand associated with the group, without the help and support from the likes of Specsavers these productions would not happen.
“Within the group we endeavour to put on the most professional show we can and it is the vital sponsorship from our business partners which allows us to go over and beyond the usual Amateur production
“We look forward to cementing our relationship with Specsavers over the next few years”
Ballywillan is one of a select few musical societies from around the UK and Ireland who have been chosen to stage Legally Blonde.
This superb new musical was a major success on Broadway and in London, where it starred Sheridan Smith, and is being brought exclusively to the North Coast and the Riverside for sixteen spectacular performances during January and February next year.
With Legally Blonde having an adult cast the casting of this musical is open to all persons sixteen years of age and over (or school year 12).
Ballywillan Drama Group is a church based community organisation located in Portrush.
The Award-winning group seeks to promote and encourage all aspects of Theatrical Arts in an environment of friendship, support and responsibility.
