A man has appeared in court in Antrim charged with the manslaughter of a Coleraine father-of-three at the weekend.

Colin McLeister died after falling down stairs at The Playhouse on Main Street.

Appearing at Antrim Magistrates Court on Tuesday, Muredach Martin Doherty, 34, from Station Road, Portstewart, wass charged with unlawfully killing the 48-year-old. He was remanded in custody.

Mr McLeister was at The Playhouse Club on a night out when he was fatally injured after a fall down the stairs.

Police at the time said there may have been an altercation prior to Mr McLeister being found.

An officer told Antrim Magistrates’ Court he could connect the accused with the charges.
