A Coleraine man has pleaded not guilty to sexually grooming, abducting, trafficking and raping a 14-year-old girl who lived in a children’s home.
Jonathan McNeill (30), originally of Greenmount Crescent, but who now has a bail address outside the town, appeared at Antrim Crown Court last Tuesday and is denying all eight charges he faces.
It is alleged that on January 28 last year the accused met a child he had, on at least two previous occasions, previously communicated with.
On the same date he is also charged with abducting and trafficking the girl for sexual exploitation and he is further charged with rape and other sex offences.
McNeill was released on his own bail of £500 along with sureties totalling £40,000 from his parents ahead of a trial and he is next due in court in November.
As part of his bail conditions he is not to go within half a mile of any residential children’s facility and is not allowed to contact any resident of such a home.
He is banned from driving and is only allowed to be a passenger in a vehicle driven by either of his parents.
McNeill is also banned from possessing or using a mobile phone or computer and attempting to access the internet or send text messages and his passport also had to be surrendered.
