Shoppers at Sainsbury’s in Coleraine have donated a tonne of food to the Causeway Foodbank since July.

Back in July, Sainsburys launched a new partnership with Causeway Foodbank with a new permanent collection point at the local Coleraine store.

Causeway Foodbank is a local community project that seeks to help local people with emergency food and support in a time of crisis working with churches, community organisations and frontline care professionals in the causeway area.

Hazel the Community Ambassador for Sainsburys in Coleraine said: “ We are delighted to have this opportunity to help our local community in this way, and we would like to thank all our customers who have donated to the foodbank.

“Through the partnership with Causeway foodbank we have learnt just how many people need that little bit of help and to be part of that is great and especially now coming up to Christmas when many families struggle.

The collection point has been in place for a few months and the generosity of Sainsburys customers is making a big difference.”
