A Coleraine dental therapist and hygienist has expressed her shock and delight at being shortlisted for two prestigious industry awards.
Laura King will travel to the Barbican in London for the UK Dental Hygiene and Therapy awards on January 24 hoping to achieve a unique awards double.
Laura is in the running for the best young hygienist and therapist under 30 and the best treatment of nervous patients awards.
She told The Coleraine Times: “To hear I was shortlisted was fantastic and I must admit I was a little shocked.
“For the awards I called on previous patients for recommendations and feedback on their treatment.
“Their comments bowled me over!
“I would like to thank all the patients who gave me their feedback. It is a very rewarding job and I receive great job satisfaction from it.”
Having graduated from Dundee University in 2011 Laura has since been working at her family dental practice, Robert King’s surgery, on Railway Road.
Speaking about her job as a dental therapist and hygienist, she says: “There aren’’t very many of us around.
“We give individually tailored advice on oral health, perform deep cleaning and polishing, and provide new and replacement fillings for kids and adults and also do teeth whitening.”
Laura added: “I would like to thank the team that I work with for all their support!”
