Get involved in volunteering with Good Morning Causeway

Causeway Volunteer Centre works across Coleraine, Ballymoney and Moyle areas to promote and develop volunteering with organisations, like Good Morning Causeway. Over the past year they have been working with together and training and guiding them through an in-depth process that promotes best practice in volunteering.

They are very pleased to be able to say that anyone who wants to volunteer with them will be very well looked after indeed!

Good Morning Causeway is an organisation who supports vulnerable and isolated people through telephone support calls.

One volunteer described the telephone calls as, “a hug in the morning”.

They currently have 23 volunteers on board making 38,000 calls per year to 185 clients!

The service enables people to share worries and concerns and connects them with local community activities and services.

The regular contact and interaction with the volunteers has shown a marked improvement in people’s health and wellbeing, prevented them from feeling socially isolated and reduced their fear of crime.

And the service is growing with around 50 new people each year register to receive calls therefore they need volunteers to help people in need.

Joann Dunseith, Project Coordinator said: “We couldn’t survive without our volunteers.

“Volunteering with us not only helps the people we call every morning, it helps our volunteers stay connected, make lasting friendships and feel that they have made a real difference to someone’s life.”

One of the projects volunteers added: “I have to say that Good Morning Causeway is probably the most rewarding volunteers position I have had.
