Local comedian Sean Hegarty will be going further than his famous one liners, with the launch of his new podcast ‘Hit the Ground Running’.

Each week Sean will join Nuala Catney and the team at Ground Espresso Bars in Coleraine and Ballymoney to welcome both local and international celebrities who will share their career history and give valuable advice to those wishing to pursue a career in their field or indeed just find out a bit more about the working world of someone in the public eye.

Talking about the new podcast Sean Hegarty said: “Northern Ireland has an array of talent both known and undiscovered, we want the podcast to be a good mix of famous faces and the ones to watch in coming years.

“From local actors and musicians to sports stars and even high profile business people, each has a colourful career path, which others can learn from.”

One of the local celebrities to have featured already is Coleraine actress Jayne Wisener.

After performing for the first time at a late night open-mic gig at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival, Sean has went on to appear in BBC NI’s Find Me The Funny, performing as one of six winners of the show at a showcase of Northern Irish talent at the Gilded Balloon.

Since then, he’s been a finalist in Craic Attack, an Irish comedy talent search, getting down to the final eight from 150+ comedians, he’s supported Patrick Kielty on his tour of NI, written jokes for BBC radio and television and won several nightly comedy competitions in England. The Lurgan born comedian was the runner-up in last year’s UK Pun Championships which were held at the Leicester Comedy Festival.

Darren Gardiner of Ground Espresso Bars, said: “One of our core values is to support local, whether that is local produce, the local economy or local talent, Ground Espresso Bars is delighted to back Sean with his new venture.

“We just love Sean’s podcast and think it really gives inspiration for people in Northern Ireland to push themselves to be the best,” added Darren.
