BALLYSALLY has received an All-Island Pride of Place Award.

The Coleraine housing estate took a top runner up award in the annual IPB All-Island Pride of Place Awards announced at the gala ceremony in The Venue, Derry/Londonderry earlier this month on Saturday (16 November).

Ballysally was successful in the Housing Estates category.

The winners were Castleview Residents Association, Co Limerick.

Minister Phil Hogan TD, Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, joined deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MLA, Mayor Cllr Martin Reilly Derry City Council, Co-operation Ireland Chairman Christopher Moran, Pride of Place Committee Chairman Tom Dowling and Chairman of IPB George Jones, sponsors of the event to present the group with their award.

During the evening, the Ministers congratulated the winner and paid tribute to all the participating groups who work tirelessly to create and promote pride in their cities, towns and villages.

Deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness, said: “I am pleased to recognise through the Pride of Place Awards the many people across the island of Ireland who are movingforward, making progress and committed to creating and promoting pride in their cities, towns and villages. All the people and community groups nominated generate and foster pride in the community they serve. It is for this invaluable contribution to your local community that we consider it appropriate to acknowledge and celebrate the tangible difference you are making to society for the good of all our people.”
