Roisin Hamill (25), of Boveedy Road, crashed on October 29 last year and at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Friday she pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention and failing to stop and report the incident.

A defence lawyer said it was a “momentary lapse of concentration” and admissions had been made during a police interview.

He said the defendant, a Civil Service agency worker, left the scene because she “panicked”.

The court heard Hamill had been disqualified from driving previously and had re-sat her test two years ago.

District Judge Liam McNally said it was a bad piece of driving as he banned the defendant from the road for six months and fined her £200 for careless driving and £50 on each of the other offences.

Bail was fixed for appeal on the sum of £250 and she is allowed to drive in the mean time.
