MEMBERS of the Ulster Farmers Union North East Londonderry group took a tour of Ballyrashane Creamery recently.
Those in attendance viewed the factory’s new anaerobic digester.
Mr Nigel Kemps, Ballyrashane General Manager and Mr Ian Campbell, Project Manager were on hand to show the group around.
The visitors were told about the history and products produced by the creamery.
The tour of the factory and the digester proved to be the highlight of the visit with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves. The digester will generate renewable energy from dairy waste, slurry, maize and silage, which will then be fed back into the creamery as power.
The Ulster Farmers Union North East Londonderry group would like to thank the staff and management at Ballyrashane Creamery for the great hospitality received and for the very enjoyable trip.
