LOCAL fans of the highly acclaimed HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones, will be keeping their eyes peeled for local landmarks when the show airs on Sky Atlantic on April 2nd.
Last summer saw Coleraine Borough Council welcome the team behind the successful TV show to the area as they used the beautiful coastline of Downhill Beach as one of the locations for their shoot.
Based on the bestselling fantasy book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” by George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones follows kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars and noblemen as they vie for power.
Mayor of Coleraine, Alderman Maurice Bradley, who visited the set last year, said he was delighted the Borough was involved in such a high profile production.
He added: “The fact that such a renowned production came to the Borough of Coleraine is a fantastic achievement.
“it is an acknowledgement of the beauty of this area, as well as the fantastic facilities we have available.
“This is a great opportunity for us to showcase our world class beaches to the world and to highlight that we are ready, willing and able to accommodate this kind of production.
“I am personally looking forward to seeing the second series of Game of Thrones and keeping an eye out for some very familiar sites.”
