Councillors to get £14k allowances

Councillors sitting on the new Causeway Coast and Glens Council will receive a basic annual allowance of £14,200.

Environment Minister Mark H Durkan, pictured, has finalised the remuneration and a scheme of allowances for councillors being elected in May.

In a written statement to the Assembly, Minister H Durkan details the scheme which includes special responsibility and carers’ allowances as well as a basic allowance.
