The funeral of popular Portstewart business woman Margaret ‘Margo’ Evans will take place this morning (Tuesday) at Portstewart Presbyterian Church.
Mrs Evans, a mother of three, died last Wednesday at her home in Portstewart.
On Thursday, Police in Coleraine launched a murder enquiry into Mrs Evans death.
A 32-year-old male, believed to be Mrs Evans’ son Alun, was arrested by police after her death. Police have confirmed that the male has been released from police custody and has been detained under the mental health act.
The 69-year-old’s body was found by the side of her house in the town’s Knockancor Drive around lunchtime on Wednesday.
Margo was well-known in the area having owned the popular Madame Margo hair salon – continuing to work on a part-time basis following retirement earlier this year.
Last week, the traders of the seaside town paid tribute to Mrs Evans through a facebook message saying: “Today we lost a trader, colleague, friend. Thoughts are with family and friends.” Outside the popular Portstewart salon a note from the staff describes the death as ‘tragic’ and outlines the funeral arrangements. Police have appealed to anyone with any information, to contact them.
