Two men aged 35 and 26 have been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, threats to kill and criminal damage.
The arrests follow an incident in the Westbourne Crescent area of Coleraine that was reported to police at approximately 11.10pm on the evening of Sunday 16 March.
No-one was injured in the incident.
The two men currently remain in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
DUP councillor George Duddy said he was ‘anxious’ that this was the second incident involving knifes in the area in the past few months.
“There is no place for knives in society today,” said the DUP man.
“I would urge police to carry out more searches and get these weapons off our streets before someone is seriously injured or killed.
“We live in an tourist area, incidents like this only give out a negative impression of the town, we don’t want this as we approach the summer season.”
