Detectives in Coleraine are appealing for information after a report of a woman being robbed in the James Street area of the town Wednesday evening.

Detective Constable Timoney said: “Shortly before 9:50pm, it was reported that a female was in an alleyway in the area.

“It is believed that two males and one female coming from the Ballycastle Road area pushed the female from behind, and made off on foot.

“It is believed that a handbag was taken during the incident, but was later recovered a short time later. It is believed that a sum of money and other items were stolen during the incident.

“The female was left badly shaken and received facial injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. Enquiries are continuing.

“Anyone with any information about this is asked to contact CID at Coleraine Police Station on the non emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
