Boyle calls for more women in politics

A well attended Women’s Conference, run by Ballymoney Cummunity Resource Centre, was held at the Lodge Hotel in Coleraine recently.

Topics included Community Spirit, Policing and Justice, Looking to the Future - Young People and Having your Say in the Local Community.

Speaking at the conference, which attracted young women and schools, Alliance councillor, Yvonne Boyle said: “Women need to lobby their respective political parties as prospectives candidates are currently being selected for next year’s elections which will be held under the new Review of Public Administration arrangements’

“There are only five female councillors out of twenty-two at Coleraine Borough Council and we need to ensure that this number is built upon in the new larger councils”
