Coleraine actress back home

MICHELLE Fairley has been back at home recently - on location!

The acclaimed Coleraine actress stars in the quirky Irish comedy, Cup Cake, which is set in the idyllic North Antrim countryside.

The Olivier award nominee, who plays Hermione Granger's mum in the next Harry Potter movie, takes on the role of Annie McNabb in the romantic comedy which has been shooting at Leslie Hill Farm in Ballymoney.

'Cup Cake' is written by Christine Murphy (Doctors), produced by Katy Jackson (Charlotte's Red) and directed by Colin McIvor (Driven) with Cian de Buitlear (Man About Dog, Saving Private Ryan and Planet Earth) as the project's director of photography. The four week shoot is expected to end this week.

The film was selected by Northern Ireland Screen as part of their Ultra Low Budget Fiction Fund.

It stars Adam Best (Holby City) as P.J. and the film follows his trials and tribulations as he struggles to keep his family bakery from flopping when his parents are lost in a mysterious pedalo incident in the Mediterranean.

The movie also features Clive Russell (Jam And Jerusalem), Paddy Jenkins (Bel's Boys) Ian McElhinney (Single-Handed) and newcomer Kasia Koleczek as 'Gala', PJ's romantic interest.

Due for completion in spring next year, the BBC is expected to screen it sometime in the autumn.

One of the first open farms in Northern Ireland, Leslie Hill in Ballymoney has only recently been marketed as a film and TV location. Cupcake is the first film to avail of the facilities of the estate and nearby locations around Ballymoney.
