Coleraine DPP publishes its annual report

COLERAINE District Policing Partnership (DPP) has just released its Annual Report for 2008-2009.

The sixth Annual Report for the DPP, it outlines all the work that has been done in the last year along with members attendance rates and the audited accounts for the year.

Coleraine DPP again held six public meetings to monitor police performance and to raise awareness of specific police roles such as the Tactical Support Group and Roads Policing.

The District Policing Partnership remains concerned about the levels of Neighbourhood policing and believes this is key to building relationships with all communities in the Borough.

In addition this year, the DPP held meetings to discuss the future of PSNI stations in Kilrea and Portstewart as well as future policing arrangements in both towns.

The DPP carried out a broad survey of one in 10 households with an 18% response rate, took into account the 99 questions asked in public monitoring meetings and held nine focus groups with groups in the borough.

The main issues identified include anti-social behaviour, road traffic offences and violent crime and all of these were prioritised with the PSNI District Commander for the Local Policing Plan 2009-2010.

The Moviehouse Cinema adverts on anti-social behaviour, binge drinking, drugs and criminal damage were launched in June last year and have been shown to 149,575 people over a nine-month period from July 2008 to March this year.

Road safety remains a priority with members supporting the road safety committee, PSNI Roadsafe Roadshow and Bikesafe. The DPP has also held meetings in Kilrea to make a difference to the ‘boy racers’ problem in the town.

Members of the public who would like a copy of the Annual Report can visit www.districtpolicing.com/coleraine or contact the DPP Manager at Coleraine Borough Council offices.
