Coleraine family light up their home for the Children's Hospice

A COLERAINE family can expect a huge electricity bill after Christmas!

For the Linton family have decorated their Shellbridge Park home, in memory of their grand-daughter, Charlotte.

But Kathleen Linton insists she doesn't mind the extra cost, as it's all for a good cause.

"Our grand daughter Charlotte died five years ago," Kathleen told the Times.

"Charlotte had hydrocephalus and spina bifida. We always decorated the house for her when she was alive.

"She was a bright light in our lives. She loved lights, so her granda used to put the lights up every year.

"My husband Wilson has continued to add lights to our display every year, and has kept it going in memory of Charlotte.

"Charlotte is buried just next to our house here at Coleraine cemetery, so we know she is watching from very close by."

Any monies raised will go directly to the Children's Hospice: "Charlotte and her mum and dad spent many days and weekends at the Children's Hospice for respite," explained Kathleen.

"Charlotte really loved it there.

"She loved lights, and they have a special light sensory room, which she was really fond of.

"Ever since her death, we as a family have continued to support the Children's Hospice, so we are appealing for people to come down and have a look at our decorations and donate to the Hospice."

The Lintons have already had people passing by to look at their decorations.

"We have a creamery can sitting out the front, and we've already had quite a few donations," said Kathleen.
