Coleraine launch Thousandaire fundraiser

COLERAINE FC officially launched its 'Who wants to be a Thousandaire' fundraiser last week.

Club officials hope the event, which will take place at the Lodge Hotel, will give them a financial boost going into the new season.

The Bannsiders last ran the event two years ago shortly after naming David Platt as the new manager.

Platt stepped into a different type of hot-seat at last Friday night's launch in the Social Club as he took on the 'Who wants to be a Thousandaire' question master, Tom Shanahan, from Pallas Marketing.

The Showgrounds supremo proved that it's not just football he's knowledgeable about as he quickly moved on to 500.

But David was to fall short in this dummy run as the 1,000 question proved one step too far for him.

But to be fair nobody else in the room knew which actress called her daughter Ireland.

Club officials are hoping for another bumper crowd at the Lodge Hotel event. The 2008 event was a roaring success and a great night's 'craic'.

Country star 'Fiddler Adam' is also returning to entertain the crowds during the break.

Tickets for the event are avaialable from any member of the Management Committee.

Or if you would like to become a sponsor for the event you can contact organiser, Andy Magowan, through the club at The Showgrounds.

Meanwhile, it's time to dig out those encyclopedias and brush up on your general knowledge.
