Council say it is 'disappointed'

COLERAINE Borough Council has called the move 'disappointing' in a statement released on Monday but said it is 'working hard to enhance and develop the infrastructure for future years'.

The statement read: "Coleraine Borough Council is disappointed that the Milk Cup final will not be held at the Coleraine Showgrounds this year.

"However we appreciate that the tournament will remain in Coleraine and the town will continue to realise the benefits that an event of this stature and size attracts.

"The decision for the move to Ballymena Showgrounds was based on new health and safety legislation, which regrettably was beyond the control of Council and the Milk Cup Committee.

"We agree whole heartedly that Coleraine is the spiritual home of the Milk Cup and to that end Council is working hard to enhance and develop the infrastructure that is needed to support an event of this size for future years."
