Late Blues goals rock Coleraine at Midgely Park

COLERAINE Reserves came up against a strong Linfield Swifts side on Saturday in a league encounter.

The game, at Midgley Park, was the Bannsiders' first in four weeks.

"We were glad to be back," admitted Reserves boss Aaron Forgrave.

"The boys continued to train over the bad weather. We've been using the facilities out at the Riding for Disabled Arena in Castleroe, the facilities there are fantastic, and we really appreciate the help from the RDA," said Aaron.

Coleraine took the lead through Owen Moody, but Linfield pulled a goal back, and with only eight minutes to go the scores were level.

The Swifts pressed for a winner, but the Coleraine defence of Forgrave, Neill, Quinn, and Wilson held firm, stopping everything that the home side through at them.

Disaster struck for Coleraine, when Linfield grabbed two late goals to secure all three points.

"We were very unlucky," reflected Aaron.

"We held our own for most of the match, and gave away two silly goals at the end.

"We lost David McClements early in the game, after he collided with the Linfield keeper, Ryan Doherty came on, and played very well.

"Stuart Millar also deserves praise, he played the anchor role in front of the back four, and took the Man of the Match award.

"Linfield had a very strong team out, with quite a few first team players, but myself and Steven (Quinn) were happy with the performance."

Coleraine Reserves entertain Crusaders Reserves this Saturday, the game has a 2.30 kick off at Coleraine Showgrounds.

COLERAINE RESERVES: Wells, Forgrave, Neill, Quinn, Wilson, Millar, McClements, Heneghan, Peden, Moody, Turner. Subs: Doherty, Boylan, Tannahill.

Player of the Match, sponsored by Mickey Murray - Stuart Millar.
