Lifelines for all at First Coleraine
TELEVISION star Chris Tarrant has thrown out a few lifelines for struggling quiz contestants on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" but in these days of global recession and financial hardship, there is another type of lifeline being offered in Coleraine.
The past 12 months have been almost unprecedented in the gloom and worry that people all around the world are facing.
But at First Coleraine Presbyterian Church the organisers of a special series of events over the last eight months are convinced that there is hope, a lifeline that we can all grasp.
"We are not talking about finance, property or share values, but rather different values that can keep us strong when life is tested," says minister, Rev. Peter Fleming.
'Lifelines' is a season of activities that has provided an opportunity to meet with members of the congregation in a whole range of events, both social and spiritual and enabled people to listen, think and discuss and consider how God has offered everyone a lifeline.
Rev Fleming goes on: "We can be positive in difficult days. We can find strength in times of need. In Christ and His Church you will find help."
Experienced international speaker Steve Brady, principal at the Moorlands Christian education and training college in Sopley, Dorset, will be getting involved at First Coleraine on Thursday, and Friday, October 29 and 30, as well as speaking at the morning and evening services on Sunday, November 1.
Steve has been at Moorlands for 12 years.
The college has around 230 students. A trustee of the world famous Keswick Convention for a decade, he also chairs the Association of Bible College Principals, a body representing more than 25 other seminaries, and many hundreds of students.
